1. Kanthalloor

It is a beautiful village nestled in the eastern side of the western ghats near to Marayoor. It has a salubrious climate and the picturesque landscapes and wide varitey of tropical crops like apple, orange, strawberry, plums, Gooseberry, egg fruits, peach passion fruits and sugar cane.

The Anaimudi shola National Park (Mannavan Shola) surrounds this beautiful village. Kanthalloore has the sprawling tea estates, rolling hills, water falls and picture-postcard hamlets.

2. Marayoor

This scenic village is situated arround 40 Kms away from Munnar. Besides two pre historic sites, a sandal wood forest and vast sugarcane farms known for its tasty variety of solid malasses (Sankara in Malayalam) are among the attractions.

A). Sandal Wood Forest

Marayoor has a natural sandlwood forest with around 65000 trees. It is of high quality.

B). Dolmens

It is prehistoric site. The dolmen are 2000 years old meglithic mounuments. These are burial Chambers of meglithic age.

C). Marayoor Sarkara

Marayoor and Kanthalloor are famous for a special variety of solid molasses produced here. It is of high quality with 97 percent sugar content.

D). Ezhuthupura

It is situated inside the Marayoor Forest Range. It is a prehistoric site where cave pintings can be seen. It is a protected mounment.

3. Mattupatty Dam

This hill station at a height of 1700 mtrs, is located 13 kms away from Munnar. It can also be reached from Kanthalloor via Mannavan Shola forests. It has greenish valleys and fabulous climate all around. You can enjoy speed boating in the dam. Adventure lovers also have trekkings and elephant rides. The serene ambience of the lake will take you to a world of peace.

4. Kundala

A picturesque place about 20 km from Munnar on the way to Top Station. Here the cherry blossoms appear twice a year. The famous Neela Kurinji blooms once in twelve years. It is the first Arch Dam in Asia.

5. Top Station and Echo Point

Located around 32 kms from Munnar. The place falls on the Kerala - Tamil Nadu border. Here you can enjoy the panoramic view of Western Ghats and the plains of Theni District in Tamilnadu.

Echo Point got its name from natural echo phenomenon situated at a scenic lake bank. When you scream at here, you will be hearing your voice returning to you. It is located 15 kms away from Munnar on the way to Top Station.

6. Eravikulam National Park

Located 15 kms from Munnar. It is a major tourist attraction in Kerala. Most of the areas of national park are consistent hill plateau. You can see only high rolling slepes here. The highest peak is Anaimudi (2690m). Apart from Nilgiri Tahr, arround 26 different species of mammals at this park. About 120 species of birds can be spotted at this park.

7. Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary:

This 90 Sq.kms santuary is unique with its floral, ecological, geomorphologic and cultural significance. Chinnar is unique thorny scrub forest with xerophyte species. it is ideal for trekking.

Chinnar is blessed with wide array of habitat types like deciduous forests, dry thorn scrub, riparian forest, sholas and grasslands. You can see elephants, tiger, leopard, gaur, sambar and spotted deer etc.

The eco tourism facilities include river trekking, trekking to the cultural site, natural trail to the watch tower and trekking to Thoovanam falls.
